I hope you are as excited as me about the endless possibilities grow lights open! However, if you are not ready to invest in your plant parenthood journey with a grow light, head over to my post How to Understand Houseplant Light to learn a super simple secret test to determine your current plant light conditions. You can learn even more about why the proper plant light condition is imperative for your house plants survival (and thrive-al), including a secret test to determine your current plant light that is SO SIMPLE you won’t believe it’s a secret, in my post How to Understand Houseplant Light. LED grow lights provide sufficient light, readily available for photosynthesis without putting off heat that can harm your indoor plants. Most grow lights are also made with LED lights. ![]() Grow lights are centered on photosynthesis, providing the light wavelengths necessary for house plants & indoor plants. Plants need certain wavelengths of light to perform photosynthesis, and these wavelengths are not readily available in your every day light bulbs. ![]() If I had done my research sooner rather than later, I would have known that grow lights are more energy efficient than traditional light fixtures, and that not all light is created equal. I thought to myself “if my plants need more light, then I’ll leave the room lights on while I’m at work.” This was very effective… at burning a hole in my wallet as my house plants continued to die. I’ll admit that I was initially skeptical of grow lights, did not want to spend the money, and honestly couldn’t find one even remotely stylish, so I really was not about to spend the money on an ugly grow light. With the wrong plant light, your little (or not-so-little) house plant will either not be able to make the energy it needs to sustain itself OR with too much light, the indoor plant will become sunburnt and dry up. ![]() Simply put, plants use a process called photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of yummy sugars. Like most living organisms, light is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for house plants and plant care! Without the proper plant light conditions, your house plants are certainly headed for demise. ![]()
